Step 1: Navigate to the official GST portal. 

Step 2: Under ‘Services’, tap on ‘Registration’ and then tap on ‘New Registration.’ A drop-down list will appear. Specify the 'Taxpayer' as the type of taxpayer to be registered.

Here is how you can check the status of GST registration:

Step 1: Visit GST Portal

Step 2: Under ‘Services’, move the cursor to ‘Registration’ and tap on the option ‘Track Application Status.’

Step 3: Next, mention the ‘Application Reference Number’ and proceed to mention the captcha.

Step 4: Finally, tap on ‘Search’ to check the status of your GST registration.

Penalties for Incomplete GST Registration

If a taxpayer is unable to file or complete GST registration, he/she needs to pay a penalty of either 10% of the tax amount or ₹10,000, whichever stands to be higher.
